David May
Favourite Colour:
White, all pure and snowy Favourite Football Team: Leeds United. Nobody is sure why but I've been a peacock fancier since I was 5. Tough gig in recent years but we've win the top flight more recently than Liverpool ;) Pets: None right now, I'm a cat person, I had a lovely British blue called Sparky for nearly 20 years, she was wonderful and very much missed. |
Hobbies other than Chess: I was a keen cricketer for many years, opening the bowling with some seam and quick leg cutters. I was a lower order slugger, as Mr Downing will attest as we played together for a few years. Sadly health has robbed me of this aspect. I am also a very keen conspiracy theorist, I can sniff out the New World Order at 100 yards. Marital Status: Single. And I imagine always will be. Like Celeborn my treasure did not remain with me until the end. Favourite Music Band/Singer: Radiohead, Sex Pistols, Boomtown Rats, UB40 Favourite Film of all time: Once Upon A Time In The West Last book read (excluding Chess): A book on conspiracy theories I got last year for my birthday Favourite Holiday Destination: My heart lies forever in Fort William and along the Great Glen. I hope to move there some day. Country you would most like to visit: Bolivia/Peru/Chile looking at Puma Punku, Tiahouanaco, Inca Road etc Now for some Chess Stuff! When did you start playing? When I was a young lad at my aunt and uncles, he enjoys a casual game. When did you first join a club: This year! If we exclude school club. Most memorable Chess Moment: Either a draw in a rated game I achieved a couple of months ago in Muswell Hill against a 2064 rated player or my first win in my first competition in Great Yarmouth this year which was against Delsey, sorry! Worst Chess Moment: This year's Norfolk championship, 0 from 5 and completely melted down Funniest Chess Moment: Losing my queen in 5 moves after turning up at Golders Green dripping in sweat and out of breath as the first game started What are your strong points and weak points? Strong – not afraid to attack, good at spotting some great moves quickly Weak – I miss obvious things sometimes and sometimes 'play angry' Do you have a copy of your best ever win? I do, yeah Your aims for the future: Get a rating of 120/1600 and win my section at a congress |
