Greetings My Lovely Chessnuts,
On a Tuesday evening in the Post-Modern UEA homage to a 1960's futuristic cafeteria The Knaves assembled, eventually. Let's do the sh*t sandwich. ( You all know it when some pe**on does an inspirational "Team Talk". Good Bad Good.) Good...... There was no Danger that the N&N team tried to make us welcome. It was the beginning of the Lunar New Year and in the mezzanine floor below where we were eight young ladies were in the act of consuming a standard British Chinese style takeaway. Kung Po and Sweet & Sour fragrantly wafted up along with their happy sounding conversation/banter/celebration. It always makes me feel hungry Bad. . . Board 2 Olly had an attempted Semi-Tarrasch QGD or what was it? White got their Bishop to b2. Olly carried on against one of the highest scorers in Division 3. But. Board 3 Ken played an almost Tarrasch QGD by transposition but his young opponent made good use of the two Bishops on an open board. In search of regaining the lost pawn he lost something else. Aww. Board 1 I played another Ruy Lopez against David Moore for the second time this season. I haven't checked with the previous game yet but again when the board opened up Dave done us in. Never mind. Good... Board 4 Dave t'Knave struggled at first against the experienced Adrian Bell and the missing pawn didn't matter and he proved it! Adrian's 150 attack saw the disappearance of each side's Bishops. Just after Dave and Adrian moved their table back a few centimetres (Inches for Brexitiers) as Dave felt squashed behind Olly's opponent's chair. Good moves by Dave on every front. he secured a draw against Adrian Bell playing on board 4. (There are enough StJohnists to tell you playing Black against that gentleman is a doubleplus good result.) And finally, no more limericks, sonnets or couplets! Not necessary. Good Morning!
