Nathan says ...
Hi there, welcome to my little corner of the site! I'll occasionally post updates here with things I think are cool or of particular interest to me at the moment in chess (though I shall never post any of my games with David 'Harry Hoskins' McLean as I have never ever beaten the guy and am too embarrassed to share my defeats to him).
This is my first time writing directly onto the website and as such, I have something very special to share with you: a variation I was fond of playing when faced with the Ng5 line of the Italian two knight's defence!
The Italian game is a popular choice for beginners but a sideline they are unlikely to have seen if they attempt to enter the Fried Liver attack is the Fritz Variation, and as such, I have had both over the board and frequently online opponents fall in to the following trap. It is worth noting that this variation is completely sound, and indeed Fischer once lost to it in a simul (against a Robert Eugene Burger), albeit avoiding the trap shown below. If you play e5 over the board then maybe this will come in useful to you one day, hope you enjoy!
