The knaves last game of the season ended in a very good 2-2 draw with title chasers Fakenham. I regret I saw none of the other action, I know Ed and Ken drew and Olly was holding his own before a single error cost him. My game is below, a relatively comfortable game against the London system for a change
1. d4 d5 2. Bf4 e6 {playing against the London for once} 3. Nf3 c5 {early threat of Qb6 but Im not planning it, just making him think I am} 4. Nbd2 Nf6 5. c3 Bd6 6. e3 Qc7 {prepping a push to e5 later but also threatening to win a pawn} 7. Ne5 {a common London theme but early and he isnt developed yet...} 7... Nbd7 8. Qa4 O-O {breaking the pin} 9. Ndf3 {ive never seen this work in the London, it strands the E5 knight and unless your attack is ready to go its not the best move} 9... Nh5 {im still planning to win the e3 pawn after a series of exchanges} 10. Bg3 Nxg3 11. hxg3 {its giving him that open file but Im content I have it covered at this stage} 11... Nxe5 12. dxe5 Bxe5 {and indeed I win a pawn as planned, but the d4 not the e3} 13. Qc2 {PAGING MR MATE ON h7} 13... h6 14. Ng5 {That hoary old chestnut ;)} 14... f5 {e6 is now weak but I have an enormous centre and his knight looks a bit silly} 15. Nf3 a6 16. Nxe5 {error, it really doesn't help him, he'd have been better triple zeroing} 16... Qxe5 17. f4 {he made this move instantly, in hindsight he said hed just not appreciated the backward pawn until he did it} 17... Qxe3+ 18. Qe2 Qxg3+ 19. Qf2 {3 pawns ahead im happy to whip the ladies off} 19... Qxf2+ 20. Kxf2 b5 21. Rd1 Bb7 22. Rg1 Rfe8 23. Re1 c4 24. g3 a5 {grinding forward with my pawn advantage and his bishop is still undeveloped} 25. a3 Rab8 26. Bh3 Bc6 27. g4 b4 28. Rg3 bxc3 29. bxc3 Rb2+ 30. Kg1 Rb3 31. gxf5 exf5 32. Rxe8+ Bxe8 {happy to let a pawn go to get another piece off the board} 33. Bxf5 Bf7 34. a4 d4 35. Bc2 Rxc3 36. Rxc3 dxc3 37. Kg2 g5 38. fxg5 hxg5 39. Kg3 Kg7 40. Kg4 Bg6 41. Bd1 c2 42. Bxc2 Bxc2 0-1 Dave Knave
