Hi all
I entered the minor section this month, the section above my usual. Lowlights of the day outside chess centred around sitting at Ipswich for an hour on the way home after someone got hit by a train and catching Adam Raoofs cold which has appeared this morning! I didn't kiss him, he kissed me, lol. I played pretty poorly but results were ok overall. The first two games were awful, the first one I just played with the black pieces like I'd never seen a chess board allowing a young lad to infiltrate my position and set up mate, really poor game and my tactics and position were shot to pieces. Second up another youngun but rated in the hundred and teens and about 1600 fide. I played the London but the nc3 and e4 versus kings Indian version but I let my position get wildly out of shape after pushing Harry and snaffling his c pawn and we traded exchanges and pieces to a rook each and 2 v 1 pawn to him. His endgame was strong enough to force promotion and I was staring down the barrel of whitewash. Game 3 was against a real adult human from Portugal rated 96, I played the black lion and managed to pin and win his rook for my bishop and get both my rooks to the 2nd rank forcing mate in the corner after he moved his rook to the f file locking in his king (rg2+ rh2+ rbg2#). 4 versus a young lass who bested me last time in the under 105s but I got my revenge, pulling her position apart with the London and g and h file carnage ending on a revealed check promotion to win queen and rook and game. Game 5 another young superstar, I played poorly but managed to find a win when I got pawn to c3 queen to a3 against his fianchetto pawn structure sans bishop with mate in one when he ran out of checks. Game 6 yet another young lass who defended the London very well but offered a draw very early, I refused and then blundered a pawn and my strong position and she offered the draw again which I bit her hand off for as I was looking tatty like in game 2 and she seemed very capable. 3 1 2 and 9th of 24 Dave knave
