The Templars took on Dons D last night at the Coachmakers.
My game v Greg Tebble was first to finish. At one stage we were both threatening to deliver mate....and I was able to snaffle 3 of his pawns. Earlier my g pawn had taken on f3 and this eventually allowed Greg to deliver a series of checks with his queen and with nowhere safe from future checks we agreed a draw. All 3 of the other games continued late. With 10-15 mins each left, Ed agreed a draw with Steve Crane. On board 3 Brian attempted to turn an apparently drawn position into a win but had to settle for a draw. On board 1, Nathan’s opponent, John Dolamore, was well into his last minute with a solitary pawn to keep his king company. Nathan had just managed to promote his pawn which led to the exchange of rooks. John managed to nurse his pawn to f1. With John’s king on e1 he was forced to promote to a knight to avoid mate and a draw was agreed soon afterwards. Regards Crumpton
