A great win for the Templars last night at the Coachmakers Arms
Simon was first to finish , making short change of an under rated Liam Chapman followed closely by debutant Ben , smashing up veteran player Keith Garrod. Next to finish was Ed , who was happy to draw his game with Mark Nettleton to ensure we won the team match. My game was looking good with the black side of the Benko Gambit but I made a positional error and put myself under pressure. Then I failed to find the best line to stop Andy Hartland's attack and was losing a rook to stop mate so I resigned. Thank you to all that played. and produced some decent chess. A successful round one of games in the Norfolk leagues so far with two wins and 2 draws for St Johns. Ed's Game: 1. Nf3 f5 2. b3 d6 3. Bb2 e5 4. d3 g6 5. e3 Bg7 6. Be2 Nf6 7. h3 O-O 8. Nc3 Be6 9.
