Dear All
Lots of players out in the courtyard drinking beer and playing chess and generally having a jolly good time on a warm and balmy evening. Some were in the bar downstairs playing cards (me), others blitzing chess, whilst the serious ones were battling it out upstairs. Results: Name Name Result Type of Game Brian Cunningham v Richard Downing postponed standard play Division Two Nathan Abbott v Nigel Larter draw standard play Division One David Payne v Geoff Moore draw standard play Division One Olly Nelson v James Woodburn 0-1 standard play Division Four Harry Hoskins v David Elsey 1-0 (twice) Blitz Handicap Championship Other News: 1) Geoff Moore has paid his £20 to David Payne and is now a member of St Johns and he has been added to the Norfolk website results and the St johns' website. 2) Brian Cunningham got overworked and had to cancel his game.Hopefully this can get played in the next couple of weeks or so. 3) There were no internal rapid play games played or ladder games. 3) Next week a prospective newbie of the female persuasion will be coming along to play chess. Give her a warm welcome! 4) The competitions are hotting up and I notice our new Ben Payne has played four and won four in the internal competitions so far. Nice! 5) Whilst a few others have likened the Division Two standard play and rapid play as a potential bloodbath or,as one punter exclaimed "Gropo dos Muerto" which I am told means Group of Death in Flemish. Perhaps because it is virtually impossible to pick out two potential winners or two relegation chaps from the eight players concerned, so close are they in level. Well that's my report done and dusted. I will leave one final space for next week's prospective new player and then the leagues get slammed shut and no other players will be accepted in the Rapids and standard play until next season, unless a current one drops out. However, they will be allowed to play in the ladders.
