Dear Chessnuts
The place was back to normal last night .... I never thought I'd see the day with guys playing league games upstairs and guys playing internals downstairs. After my eye surgery the night before I found myself almost rubbing the eye in disbelief to see Harry turning up with a new haircut, which was a sort of severe retro skinhead affair. Anyway the first league game of the season turned out to be a 2-2 draw with a strong Aylsham team with Ben Payne and new skipper David Elsey getting the wins for the Knights. Mark Lim beat Nigel Larter in division one of the standard league and David Payne and Senthil drew their standard league division one game. Rod Mill's game against Dominic Harvey in the standard league division four was a win for the veteran Rod and James Woodburn claimed the win against Dennis Driscoll. I was due to play my rapid league against Gerry Clayton, but he was too knackered and instead we had three very entertaining games downstairs over some beers and myself getting the better of the three games. All in all a fine night and long overdue. Richard |
