Dear Chessniks
A packed out pub last night with lots of internal games going on upstairs. Here are the rated internal results which have now been sent to the Norfolk website for grading purposes. James Woodburn beat Ben Payne Edward King beat Harry Hoskins Ben Yelverton beat Harry Hoskins Gerry Clayton beat Richard Downing Crumpton Clarke beat Dave May Brian Cunningham beat Dominic Harvey Also a new young Italian guy named Davide came and played Ed, myself, Welsh Dave and Gerry. He lost all his games, but mostly due to time management and actually played well in all games. He was very gutsy and promised to come back next week and hopefully do well. In other games I lost my unbeaten record stretching back to the time dinosaurs ruled East Anglia, and the victor was Gerry Clayton who won fair and square except we had the wrong colours, but it was my own fault. To quote Morecame and Wise "I played all the correct moves, but not necessarily in the right order" But it did feel a bit surreal to be on the losing side. Harry Hoskins had an even worse introduction to this season's internal games losing to Ed King and Ben Yelverton. It seems the star performers so far this season have all come from the lower leagues....James Woodburn, Dave May and Rod Mills take a bow. Thus endeth the Thursday night Dicky Report. See you all next Thursday! Richard
