A heaving night at The Coachmaker and it really felt for the first time that we were back to the good old days or nights at the club.
It was of course helped by the fact that all our teams remain unbeaten after the first round of games and the new members have gelled extraordinary well. I counted twenty three players there last night. Mark Lim remains at the top with a really hard game against Senthil, who ended up in serious time trouble. Crumpton Clarke spoiled Colin Payne's debut in division two and Rod Mill's winning streak continued with the win over David Elsey. Brian Cunningham and Phil Sneesby drew in division three whilst James Woodburn beat Dennis Driscoll again in division four. In the rapid play league David May and myself agreed a draw after an exciting slug fest led to myself being a piece up after another sacrifice by David, but with only a minute and twenty seconds left on the clock ... I think I took the safer option. David will definitely cause many problems to his opponents this year...and proved it by beating me three zero in friendly games using his favourite London system. Ed King then showed me how to do it right. Congratulations to the Templars team playing upstairs who beat Lowestoft two and a half to one and a half and to Ben for his win on his debut match. All results have now been entered on the Norfolk chess website. Thus ends the Dicky Report for this week.
