Dear All
Last night we had the Fischer Random tournament. About twelve players took part plus we had three new prospectives, and one was a young Italian girl. Now, our only other female player happens to also be Italian. What are the chances of that? Anyway, the tournament was a lot of fun. It was the first time I had ever played Fischer chess and it seemed quite daunting to be sat at the chess board with pieces not in their original squares. The key lessons I learnt from it was "adaptability" and "spatial awareness." How did I do? You may well ask. Well, I think I won six and lost three and didn't draw any ... which in itself was most unusual, and I believe I came in 4th position behind the winner Geoff Moore, Antony Hall and Christina Casti. I came back from losing positions in almost all my games, which both pleased and displeased me. That's life! That's all for the moment. I have added Oliver O'neill to our list as he seems keen on joining the club, and indeed played very well to beat David Payne. Dicky
